Road Trains

To retrofit manual-drive cars into the self-driving network, hackers install "train engines" into old-model cars. While not capable of full autonomy, these systems allow a single professional driver (usually a trucker looking to make extra revenue) to "pull" a number of cars in their wake via local-area wireless networking, increasing fuel efficiency and reducing gridlock caused by older car models.
