El Nido is a Hub for environmental education, where people can share their ideas on community´s ecological challenges. El Nido offers different ways of sharing and acting with the challenges: It has a MakerSpace for developing appropiated technolgy to solve specific tasks, it offers classes, information and events to create community sense and environmental concience.

In Africa where deforestation is a huge issue we create pop up outdoor events which along with tree planting become outdoor classrooms. Here we teach children to make solar cookers out of empty tin foil packets and generally teach kids and adults that there have to be other solutions than cutting down trees for fuel. Look at an amazing project called Greenpop trees for Zambia at www.greenpop.org. I think this is a good model which can be customized into the kind of hubspace you are talking about.

I don't think anyone has build ever an eco makerspace (a maker space for building environment ideas). i love!

only worry—makers try to D.I.Y. solve environmental problems in a city without asking others, could create more problems
