What if we could use our existing underused/unused spaces, and get volunteers to transform them into valuable resources (like artist spaces, community gardens, etc?) Public underused spaces could be transformed into participatory art galleries (like a playground but with art).

Energy independence would be ingrained in the focual points of the community and even apart of the art that is applied and recycled. Free energy with free expression.

subsidies from government, charities, private citizens through Kickstarter campaigns. Building from cheap, but sturdy recycled materials like the paper tubes used by Sheguru Ban to construct buildings.

Apathy, a lack of funds in communities where spaces need to be repurposed the most, a lack of interest from the government and non profits.
