Xperience- an all-inclusive hackerspace

Oakland - Submitted by A_G on Apr 7 2014

Most hacker spaces have specific focuses- biotech, cleantech, etc. Xperience would be an all-inclusive hacker space that attempts to connect hackers from multiple domains to generate new kinds of solutions. What happens when biotech, software, hardware, and more come together to attempt to solve issues, perhaps like decreasing food waste?

NOW it's your turn...

How would you expand or adapt this future in 2025?
No one has built here yet, be the first!
Stakeholders( 1 )
Who would you need to bring together to make this future happen?

Doctors, biologists, neurologists, psychologists; computer scientists, hardware and software architects, system administrators, neural network administrators; linguists; government officials, local, county and state; the hackers... they won't join the neural network without skin in the game.
Logistics( 1 )
What resources would you need to mobilize to make this future real?

Items that need to be designed and tested in order to make a neural network: bio-mechanical/electrical connectivity coupler or jack, a line that feeds into a hive like network which needs to be maintained by administrators, a common plotting language for the software that is easily translated by the brain directly, near instant translations for communication, identifiers for bio-mechanical/electric jack (like a MAC address) for the data that travels through the hive to reach its destination, a superstructure that can house the data outside of the minds that can be stored for the best times of the hacking community to access, as their schedules could range, a filter system and search system, safety mechanisms that would protect the hacker while jacked in from power spikes.
Roadblocks( 1 )
What could get in the way of this future?

Roadblocks: Testing the bio gear before mass production. Long term effects of being jacked in. Black hat hackers looking to 'attack' other hackers on the network (they will find a way).
